Like many folks, we usually keep our coolers and freezers full of meats to have ready to cook when needed. Mostly because we buy a bunch at a time to save money, but also to have it on hand, just in case. So, how long can you store your meat?
Anyway, the question comes up from time to time about how long can they safely keep in cold storage?
From our time in the BBQ business, even though our brisket is never frozen and other meats are often used within refrigerated time frame, here are some guidelines you can use to store your meat:
Meat | Refrigerated | Frozen |
---|---|---|
Raw Beef Roasts, Steaks, Brisket | 3-4 days | 6-12 months |
Raw Beef, ground | 1-2 days | 3-4 months |
Cooked Beef | 3-4 days | 2-3 months |
Raw Pork | 3-5 days | 4-6 months |
Cooked Pork | 3-4 days | 1-2 months |
Raw Sausage | 1-2 days | 1-2 months |
Cooked Sausage | 3-5 days | 1-2 months |
Raw Chicken/Turkey | 1-2 days | 6-12 months |
Cooked Chicken/Turkey | 3-4 days | 4-6 months |
Stay Safe.
